Tuilagi named in team to play against the Rebels

BRITISH and Irish Lions centre Manu Tuilagi has the chance to press his claims to play in Saturday's second Test after yesterday being named in the team to play the Rebels in Melbourne.

The England centre will appear in only his third game of the trip, having damaged a nerve in his neck against Queensland Reds.

Another Englishman, lock Geoff Parling, one of six players who start the clash after being on the bench for the 23-21 first Test win over the Wallabies, will lead the side in its final non-Test appearence of the Tour.

Sean Maitland, Owen Farrell, Richard Hibbard, Dan Cole and Dan Lydiate are the others.

Coach Warren Gatland said the Rebels clash was a good opportunity for Tuilagi.

"This is a good chance for him and others to put their hands up," Gatland said.

The tourists received good news yesterday with Irish winger Tommy Bowe and Welsh centre Jamie Roberts expected to be fit for the Test, a game which could secure a series victory for the Lions for the first time on Aussie soil since 1989.

Lions: Kearney, Maitland, Tuilagi, Barritt, Zebo, Farrell, Murray; Grant, Hibbard, Cole, Gray, Parling (capt), Lydiate, O'Brien, Faletau. Reserves: Best, Vunipola, Stevens, Evans, Tipuric, Ben Youngs, Twelvetrees, Hogg.
