Business comes first with Tony
GIVING the Tweed Chamber of Commerce back to the businesses will be the new president’s first move.
The Tweed Daily News’ own advertising and marketing consultant Tony Radanovic was last month selected to replace Michael Tree, formerly of Tweed City Shopping Centre, in the top job.
“Three weeks ago at the committee meeting Michael Tree had to resign because he’s living and working in Queensland,” Mr Radanovic said.
“The board members looked at who could fill the position and I was chosen.”
Mr Radanovic, of Banora Point, has been involved with the Tweed Heads Chamber of Commerce since 1983 and was previously the chamber treasurer.
“At first I was apprehensive about being president and now I’m proud to do it,” he said.
“We have our annual general meeting coming up in July and I’ll see how I feel and if they’ll have me I’ll continue and everything should be great.”
Mr Radanovic said the chamber is beneficial for Tweed businesses and the community.
But added he wanted to make it better.
“There are a few things I want to do,” Mr Radanovic said.
“I want to get the business community more involved because the president represents not only the board, but the members of the chamber too.
“Once we get the business community more involved we can do more for them.”
The Tweed Chamber of Commerce’s first breakfast meeting in the New Year will be held at the Tweed Heads Bowls Club on Tuesday February 2.
Mr Radanovic said everyone is welcome to come along, meet the new president and consider membership.
He added the chamber offers the ability to meet other business operators in the area and share experiences and knowledge.
Becoming a member gives business owners the opportunity for commercial training and to see informative and positive key note speakers at chamber meetings, Mr Radanovic said.
