TWEED Heads businesswoman Maggie Farren has been part of the beauty industry for more than two decades.

Ms Farren has owned and operated Salon Maggie G for 23 years, including 17 years at the current Wharf St location.

Here she shares some insights into her business world, including her move to online marketing.

What are your future plans for your business?

I'm always testing and adjusting my marketing strategy. In 2016 we created an online booking page on our website. In 2017 we expect to see more volume of bookings, including attracting conference delegates and holidaymakers. Also, to attract well balanced, like-minded creative stylists who are discerning for the benefit of the business and the clientele.

What are the challenges of operating a business in Tweed?

Getting the clients and residents of the southern areas to come up to Wharf St.

What are the greatest attractions of operating a business in Tweed?

The interest in beauty and fashion is growing in our region. There is a mix of retirees and income earners who are very interested in looking their best. Also, more and more tourists are coming to the area and there are more interstate business people conferencing in the Twin Towns Services Club conference rooms and staying in the hotel or nearby accommodation.

What do you enjoy most about running your own business?

I have given myself the opportunity to do what I do best. As an image-maker/hairdresser and a stylist it is my joy to create a total transformation.

I love to see my guests leaving my salon looking and feeling younger, fresher and most of all feeling they were listened to.

What are your secrets to success?

I would say the real secret is to keep my guests coming back time and time again.
