Byron Bay man up for murder

A 46-YEAR-OLD Byron Bay man will face Lismore Court today after being charged with the murder of a Queensland woman on Friday.

The man was arrested at Brunswick Heads at 7.45am on Saturday by officers attached to Tweed/Byron Local Area Command and taken to Byron Bay police station for questioning.

The man was charged with murder and refused bail before appearing in Lismore Bail Court on Sunday morning.

Queensland Police will apply to have the man extradited to Queensland today.

The 35-year-old woman’s body was located in a Creek Street, Esk, residence around 4am Saturday after concerns were raised for her welfare.

Police said it was believed she suffered significant wounds to her body resulting in her death.
