Byron man arrested over Pottsville armed robbery

AN ARMED robber got away with cash and drugs after he threatened a staff member at a Pottsville pharmacy yesterday.

Tweed-Byron duty officer Bill Darnell said the man demanded cash and medicine with "a large knife" just before 4.50pm.

Information from community sources helped police to identify the man who was arrested at a Byron Bay address last night.

"He's known to New South Wales and Queensland police," Acting Inspector Bill Darnell said.

"He's been bail refused and is due to appear in the Tweed Heads Local Court this morning."

The man, 27, was charged with robbery while armed.
