Caba youth raise funds with fun
CABARITA'S youth took fundraising into their own hands last week when they held a sausage sizzle and car-washing event to raise money for the Cabarita Youth Service.
And it was also a lot of fun.
"The kids came up with the idea themselves," said spokeswoman for the service, Karen Cranwell.
"Money raised will help provide activities for them."
A trip to the White Christmas show at Movie World proved popular last week.
The service sees six to seven young people using the service at any one time during opening hours.
On sausage-cooking duty was the service's peter Langker.
He says he got "roped in" to joining the organisation.
"But I have no plans to get out," he said.
"I'm happy to do my little bit for the community and it's all good fun."
Fellow member Merilyn Gorton was previously a youth worker in Sydney.
"When I moved to Cabarita I saw a need and was happy to put my hand up."
