Cabarita restaurant claims major award

A TWEED restaurant took on the state's best regional restaurants and won in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide awards in Sydney this week.

On a night when 16 prestigious awards recognising talent, contribution, depth and diversity of individuals and restaurants were awarded, Halcyon House's famed Paper Daisy took out the Santa Vittoria Regional Restaurant of the Year award in Sydney on Tuesday.

Known for its sophisticated simplicity, Paper Daisy's kitchen is led by young chef and winner of Queensland's Chef of the Year in 2014, Ben Devlin.

Also winning from the region was Brunswick Heads' 22-seat Fleet restaurant, which took home the Regional Wine List of the Year award and employee Astrid McCormack picked up the Citi Service Excellence award.

Paper Daisy's award is one in a long line for the Cabarita-based Halcyon House, which was also took out Regional Hotel of the Year and the winner of Best Service in the Gourmet Traveller, 2016 Australian Hotel Guide.
