Caf part of community

BLACK and white balloons heralded the opening of the Coffee Club Stockland Shopping Centre at West Burleigh.

Former Melbournians Jason Kenny and Karyn Hjelmstrom co-own the café and were "very excited" with its positive reception.

"I was in hospitality and security at different venues and Karyn was in the entertainment industry," Mr Kenny said.

"It was getting a bit stale for both of us plus Karyn was missing her family based here.

"With the family and fresh start factors combined this is a great place to live and start a business."

The couple had noticed Stockland's community atmosphere as opposed to the 'touristy' nature of Burleigh Heads.
