Call for Queensland to join Tweed in daylight saving

TWEED Labor candidate Ron Goodman and Shadow Minister for the North Coast Walt Secord believe Queensland needs to join the 14 million people in NSW, Tasmania, Victoria, and the ACT who have daylight saving.

While conceding that multiple Queensland Labor administrations had also failed to introduce daylight saving, Mr Secord said they should have made the tough political decision to implement it.

"Sometimes you have to lead on issues," Mr Secord said.

But Tweed MP Geoff Provest said Queensland had repeatedly rejected daylight saving so other ideas had to be considered.

Premier Campbell Newsman has recently again ruled out introducing daylight saving.

The Cross-Border Commissioner has been contacted for commented.

Daylight saving will finish in Tweed this Sunday, before returning later in the year.
