Calling all performers for Ukitopia
ARE you a performer?
Don't hide your talent under the proverbial bushel.
Come into the limelight for the Ukitopia Festival coming up in November.
The Ukitopia Arts Collective has announced the dates for the festival this year and is calling for performers.
The annual Ukitopia Festival: a Celebration of Uki Arts, Life and Culture, is now in its fifth year.
The three-day festival will run from November 16-18 in The Uki Village Green.
This year the festival theme is "Weaving the Wheel of Community".
A series of bamboo installations funded through Festivals Australia will be featured throughout the weekend, with opportunities to co-create and interact with the sculptures in a series of community workshops leading up to the event.
The festival begins on Friday November 16 with an opening ceremony and parade to the opening of the Images of Uki Art Exhibition which remains open all weekend.
The Holy Trinity Church will host special Songwriters on the Songline and the main stage in the village green will be a Dj dance space.
Saturday starts early with a chalkboard session at the Lounge Lizard Providore and then a feast of top line live music and entertainment all day at the main stage, including the Wishing Ceremony at sunset.
The music continues into the evening with a chance to dance under the stars.
On Sunday the festival joins forces with the Buttery Bazaar Market to bring another big day of music and performance, as well as a series of art workshops for both kids and adults.
After the closing ceremony in the afternoon, the music will continue with two festival fringe events, a classical concert at the church and a Rockin' Sunday at the pub.
