Campus goes into lockdown

A UNIVERSITY campus on the Tweed was in lockdown this morning.

Students visiting the Southern Cross University campus for orientation week were surprised to find the doors locked.

A university spokeswoman said there was no direct threat to the university or students.

"We implemented a short-term security measure this morning," the spokeswoman said.

"It was simply a change to card access for students."

The security measure was lifted after several hours.
