Cancer battler wants to walk tall

A TWEED man living with terminal cancer wants the community to walk tall with him when he steps his way from the Gold Coast to Canberra early in the new year.

Facing an uncertain future after cancer - which started as a melanoma and spread to his glands - Mr Galea wants to show people they can achieve anything, regardless of their situation.

“Even if you have an illness, you can achieve,” Mr Galea said.

“I’m trying to do something great in my life while I still have the chance.

“I won’t let cancer beat me and I want to go out on my own terms.”

Not the only person in his family to have faced the insidious disease, Mr Galea also lost his brother and sister to cancer.

He plans to document his training and walk and needs sponsorship.

He hopes to capture the hearts of the local community, and any business that wants to be a part of his quest.

“No matter what, I’ll be going, but I’d like to document the whole story,” Mr Galea said.

“I’m facing big obstacles and I need sponsorship for camera equipment and shoes.

“But I’ll be going regardless, I want to show people that they can do anything they want to do.”

To sponsor Mr Galea, or to be a part of his walk, phone 0475 173 071.
