Car spaces fill quickly
THE flood of car entries for Cooly Rocks On this year was not an entire surprise to organisers.
The committee opened registration for cars about a month ago and already more than 600 car spaces are filled.
Cooly Rocks On committee chairman Gail O'Neill said there was more open space for cars this year but she expected the 1100 spaces to fill quickly.
"We kept getting messages from people asking when we were opening registration so we expected a rush at the start," Ms O'Neill said.
"But I still think we will make capacity very quickly."
Ms O'Neill said a bigger festival was planned compared to last year when the festival was in its inaugural year.
"We are already ahead on sponsorship with Events Queensland adding another $20,000 taking the total funding to $50,000," she said.
"The feedback for the festival has been unbelievable after the last one."
Ms O'Neill said one piece of feedback that the entertainment committee was chasing was finding a major rockabilly act to headline the festival.
"We are looking for a big-star artist to come here from the US," she said.
Cooly Rocks On is on from June 1 to 11 with a range of events in Tweed Heads and the southern Gold Coast.
