Car stopped with stingers after string of crimes

POLICE have arrested and charged a man with various driving offences in Forest Hill, near Laidley overnight.

At around 11:30pm officers observed a vehicle travelling on Clarendon Road at Clarendon which, it will be alleged, had failed to stop for police earlier in night.

Police tracked the vehicle, successfully deploying stingers, resulting in the vehicle coming to a stop on Forest Hill - Fernvale Road a short time later.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident.

A 23-year-old Leichardt man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, fail to stop a motor vehicle, driving an uninsured vehicle, driving whilst disqualified, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving with cancelled license plates.

He is due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on September 30.
