Caravanners ready to roll into Mur’bah for annual club rally

IN a cloud of dust, more than 20 caravans will descend on Murwillumbah Showgrounds on March 2 for one of many events the Australasian Touring Caravan Club hosts annually.

Beginning at the showgrounds, the rally will feature various events for caravanners.

Southern Queensland's Cec Ward said the events always provided a good economic boost for the local community - and this shouldn't be any different.

"We have approached a number of retail outlets with regard to offering us an incentive discount during the rally period, which helps to keep the money spent in the area," he said.

The nomads won't be sitting around idle either, according to Mr Ward, who has plenty planned for the group.

"We have organised a number of sporting activities and tours over the rally period, like lawn bowls, barefoot bowls, golf, croquet and a tour to a local tea plantation."
