Caring for animals at MyVet

WALKING into the new MyVet clinic in Minjungbal Dr, you’ll likely be greeted by either Nigel, Dusty or Lockie.

The gentle souls will greet you in the kindest of ways, sniffing around your feet and smacking your legs with their happy, wagging tails.

The placid temperaments of these kind canines might fool you into thinking they’ve spent their entire lives lazing around the practice.

However Nigel and Dusty have sad stories of abuse and cruelty in their past and their calm, curious nature can only be attributed to Dr Geoff Wilson, the vet who took them from the RSPCA and nurtured them to health.

Treating cruelty cases from the RSPCA free of charge is just one part of the list of services MyVet provides under its “loving vet care” slogan.

“People think we only get into veterinary science for the money, but this isn’t about that, we do it because we love it,” Dr Wilson said.

“We only employ people who love animals.

“We treat our customers’ pets as we do our own – with lots of love, care and affection.”

The South Tweed practice opened only recently, complementing the first practice in Beryl St, Tweed Heads, that opened last year.

“We understand the stress associated with a sick and injured pet.

"Our focus is to find a solution as quickly as we can to provide the comfort to the animals and peace of mind for our customers, so we can get the beloved pet back to bouncing health as quickly as possible,” Dr Wilson said.

“Our wonderful team of highly skilled vets, experienced nurses and customer service centric support team focuses on delivering our valued clients the very best care and very modern treatments.”

MyVet operates mostly by appointment but also takes emergency cases between 8am and 5pm weekdays and 8.30am and 11.30am Saturday.
