Carols return to Knox Park
THE meaning of Christmas will be rediscovered on Sunday when Carols in the Park is held in Murwillumbah under a blanket of stars.
Presented by the Combined Churches of Murwillumbah, Pastor Bob Spence from the Christian Outreach Centre said it would be a night to remember.
“For the last few years the carols have been held in the civic centre,” Pastor Spence said.
“But we felt we lost something by them being there. So this year we wanted to return them to the open air to bring back the meaning of Christmas.”
Organising the event on behalf of the churches in Murwillumbah, Pastor Spence said the carols would cater for all denominations.
“Every church is involved so the carols will be for everyone,” he said
Boasting live music before the official carols start at 7pm, Pastor Spence encouraged families to come early and enjoy a “festival” atmosphere between 5pm and 7pm.
“People can come at five, have some dinner, mingle with everyone and grab a spot under the sky,” he said.
With a free jumping castle and a free sausage sizzle, Pastor Spence hopes the night will attract everyone in the community.
“This isn’t a fundraiser; we’re just putting this on to do something nice for the community,” he said.
The event is free and will kick off at on Sunday at 5pm at Knox Park, Murwillumbah.
