Casuarina Beach's $5m weekend
A LARGE property liquidation sale at Casuarina Beach has achieved more than $5 million in sales at the Beach Shacks and Santai apartments over one weekend.
The first block of the 21 Beach Shacks, along with 28 Santai apartments, was released to the market last Saturday by Colliers International in a campaign dubbed the Ultimate Beachfront Sale.
The apartments were the brainchild of developer Resort Corp and were snapped up by Casuarina Corporation, associated with funds manager Moss Capital in late 2010.
Colliers director of project marketing Brinton Keath said Colliers International priced some of the premium beachside apartments within the thriving community from just $179,000.
“We had a line-up of 65 people waiting at our office at Casuarina Beach on Sunday morning and another 70 that afternoon,” Mr Keath said.
“We were taken by surprise and forced to put on four extra staff just to cope with the inquiry levels. The campaign is comparable to the first land release at Casuarina back in 2001 when we were swamped by demand.
“We hosted 135 inspections on Sunday with people coming from as far as Warwick to check out the one-off buying bonanza deals.”
