Casuarina centre exceeds expectation

THE Casuarina Village Shopping Centre was officially launched on Monday after surf retail giant Rip Curl took up the centre’s final tenancy.

Now fully leased, the centre includes a Coles supermarket and specialty stores which were already trading after the centre opened ahead of schedule on February 24.

Consolidated Properties executive chairman Don O’Rorke, whose vision led to the Casuarina development, said it was a “natural fit” for Rip Curl to commit to a centre that exceeded expectations.

“When you plan something you hope it will all come to fruition and we’ve planned, built and delivered,” Mr O’Rorke said.

“It’s nice to see the end result and it’s probably greater than we imagined it was going to be.

"The centre has created 100 ongoing jobs and is a fantastic asset for residents and the thousands of tourists who holiday at Casuarina and Salt Village each year and can now shop locally, providing an additional boost to the region's economy.”

The centre is located on the corner of Grand Parade and Casuarina Way, which links the north and central residential villages of Casuarina Beach, and also provides a direct connection to the adjoining $1 billion Salt Village community.

Works began in April last year and the opening completes Casuarina’s retail and commercial heart.
