Catch a classic flick to help the Tyalgum Diggers
THE Regent Cinema in Murwillumbah will be showing a special screening of the 1980 Australian classic film Breaker Morant.
Starring Jack Thompson, Bryan Brown, Edward Woodward and John Waters, the film is being screened as a fundraiser for Tyalgum Diggers.
Funds from the screening will assist the diggers in organising a special demonstration by the Australian Light Horse at the Tyalgum Diggers Sports and Family Day this Saturday.
Harry 'Breaker' Morant was an Australian drover, horseman, poet, soldier and convicted war criminal, whose skill with horses earned him his nickname.
During service in the second Boer War, Morant allegedly participated in the execution of several Boer prisoners.
'Breaker' was trialled over the executions with two other lieutenants.
Along with Breaker Morant a special short film featuring the Australian Light Horse at the foundation of Canberra will be shown.
Tickets are $10 for Adults, $10 Concession and $8 for Kids for the August 14 screening at 6pm.
