THREE-YEAR-OLD Callum Reichard couldn't wipe the smile off his face as he hooked a barramundi that would make most other fisherman weak at the knees.

The 80cm, 6kg beauty was Callum's biggest barramundi to date and it was caught at a private stock dam inland from Sarina.

Callum's dad Willem said although the youngster was still learning how to cast he could reel in his own catches.

"He can't cast yet so my wife Alana or I will cast it out for him but he has his own reel technique, so he will reel them in himself," Mr Reichard said.

"We helped him a little bit but he caught the fish himself. He was very excited when he realised he had hooked one.

"He loves fishing; everything is 'fish, fish, fish'."

Mr Reichard said he shared his passion of fishing with his children, Callum and Michaela, who is two.

"In our free time we will spend time as a family fishing and enjoying the outdoors," Mr Reichard said.

"There is no better feeling, as a father who enjoys fishing, watching your child reel in a catch."
