Cause of Cooly fire still unknown

QUEENSLAND Fire and Rescue investigators are still unsure what caused a fire in a Coolangatta restaurant on Monday.

Emergency services were called to a Griffith St arcade about 1:15pm on reports of a fire.

The fire had broken out in the kitchen of The Indian Shop causing extensive smoke damage to the inside of the premises.

The restaurant was closed at the time and there was no damage reported to adjoining buildings.

Investigations will continue.
