CD paves the way for national tour
TWEED hardcore band Mourning Tide is preparing to embark on a national tour following the late October release of its self-titled album.
Guitarist Vin Steele told the Tweed Daily News yesterday the response to the album had been good and he was looking forward to kicking off the tour on December 15.
“We start in Brisbane and play our way through to Adelaide, it should be a good run,” he said.
In the process of recording the album, the band spent a lot of time in the United States and worked with experienced producer Steve Evetts.
The mixing started in Los Angeles then the band travelled to New York to master the record.
“Both cities are really good,” he said.
“It was great to experience both the east and west coast.”
Mr Steele, from Fingal, started the band with Tweed friends in late 2000 and he said band members have scattered around the Gold Coast since then.
So did he expect to be mixing an album in Los Angeles when Mourning Tide started all those years ago?
“Of course we had goals for ourselves and we are taking it one step at a time. As long as we’re still having fun then we’ll keep doing it,” he said.
As Mourning Tide was preparing to launch its new album, Mr Steele was also launching a new bikini label with his girlfriend, Aasha Tozer, called Qupid.
