The Tweed Hospital ranks third
THE Tweed Hospital has ranked third in overnight patient care in the North Coast area according to the Bureau of Health Information.
The Bureau's report Insights into Care : Patients' Perspectives on New South Wales Public Hospitals, released on Thursday, is based on analysis of the NSW Health Patient Survey 2009 and provides information about patient experiences with hospital care in NSW.
Tweed Hospital general manager Deb Podbury said the news was a great result for hospital staff.
“It's a really positive result and recognition for the hard work that the staff does across all departments,” Ms Podbury said.
“Staff at the Tweed Hospital are very focused on giving patients a positive experience, and we are always looking into improvements.”
In 2009 about 20,000 people completed the NSW Health Patient Survey to share information about their experiences in public hospitals.
The survey provided extensive information, and the Bureau analysed the responses to determine what mattered most about care experiences from the patients' perspective.
Ms Podbury said the Tweed Hospital was assessed on a number of factors including courtesy of staff, staff teamwork, cleanliness and treatment.
