Channel 10: Offspring has not been axed

CHANNEL 10 says Offspring has not been axed, despite reports to the contrary.

The network refuted claims made by The Guardian that creator and Endemol's head of drama John Edwards had confirmed the show would not return for a sixth season.

"The story is wrong. John Edwards did not say Offspring would not be coming back," a Ten spokesperson said.

"He was asked if it was returning, and he said to the reporter, 'Never say never'."

Beverley McGarvey, Ten's Chief Programming Officer, said the network was keen for the Logie Award-winning show to continue.

"We want Offspring to return in 2015," she said.

"We are in discussions with the producers and they are, in turn, in discussions with the key creatives and cast."

Edwards was asked about the future of Offspring while discussing his new show Party Tricks, which also stars Offspring's Asher Keddie.
