Charges to be laid after makings of drug lab found

TWO people are expected to be charged after police uncovered the makings of a drug laboratory in Bargara.

Bundaberg Police Criminal Investigation Branch Detective Senior Sergeant Joe Hildred said officers descended on the Garson Dr home early this morning.

"Following a search of the premises, detectives located items consistent with an amphetamine lab including chemicals and other items used to manufacture illegal drugs," he said.

Det Snr Sgt Hildred said a 21-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were taken into custody for questioning.

"It is likely they will be charged in relation to the production of dangerous drugs and the possession of items used in connection with dangerous drugs," he said.

Det Snr Sgt Hildred said the Illicit Laboratory Investigation Team from Brisbane would arrive in Bundaberg this afternoon to dismantle the drug lab.

Anyone with information on illegal drug activity should call Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000 or police on 4153 9111.
