Chilli attack brings attempted robber down

A BRAVE fast-food worker showed petty thieves her shop wasn't one to target on Sunday when she foiled an accused robber's attempts to raid her cash register by hurling a bucket of chilli at his face.

The now sad and sorry accused was arguing with staff at a Rosebery shop when he allegedly stormed behind the counter, pushed workers aside and began to dip into the cash register.

As a 40-year-old man ran to the front of the shop and called police, a 27-year-old woman continued to try and stop the accused from opening the cash register.

When the accused hit her across the chest, she picked up a bucket of chilli and threw it over his face, instantly flooring him.

Police arrived within minutes and found the accused still lying on the floor.

He was treated for minor burns in hospital before he was charged with assault and intent to rob.
