Chopper rescues seasick passenger
A PASSENGER was winched from a fishing charter vessel after suffering a severe case of seasickness at the weekend.
Yeppoon Coast Guard received a radio call at 8.25am on Saturday from the vessel near Karamea Banks, 50 nautical miles north-east of Rosslyn Bay.
The Ambulance Co-ordination Centre was alerted. It was decided that, to avoid a stressful evacuation by sea, a helicopter evacuation would be arranged.
The charter boat headed inshore to the shelter of Peaked Island to meet the RACQ Capricorn Rescue chopper.
Rescue 300 left Rockhampton at 10.14am, was overhead to perform the winch operation at 10.50am and had returned to Rockhampton with the passenger by 11.32am.
