Christmas lights comp is back

IT IS time for people to unpack and test their Christmas lights with Gold Coast City Council launching its competition yesterday.

The council's competition began in 1992 and attracts dozens of entries each year.

Mayor Ron Clarke said visiting Christmas lights had become a tradition for thousands of residents each year.

"You only need to look at the faces of the children who visit the houses to see how much joy these dazzling displays provide," he said.

The Christmas lights competition is open for residents, businesses and community groups.
