Chronicle plays role in stardom
FOR those who felt the recent film The Chronicle would be former Rocky boy Alex Russell's big break in acting, you were absolutely right.
It was announced recently that the actor, now living in LA would star in the remake of Stephen King's 1970s cult horror film Carrie.
Russell will play the role of Billy, John Travolta's character in the original film, alongside Julianne Moore playing Carrie's cruel mother.
It's been a big 12 months for the rising star who had his Hollywood breakout in the surprise hit Chronicle, which grossed $126 million worldwide.
You will also see Alex in 3D shark thriller Bait with Sharni Vinson and Xavier Samuel, due to be released in September.
Chloe Grace Mortez (Kick Ass, Dark Shadows) is playing the title character Carrie, a mousy and abused teenage girl with telekinetic powers who gets pushed too far on prom night.
The determined actor made his way onto the silver screen in 2010 in the Australian film Wasted on the Young and has since been continually working his way into Hollywood stardom.
