THOSE in the know say this year's Grand Central Floral Parade was the biggest ever.

Most estimates have the crowd numbered in excess of 100,000.

The final figure is still being tallied but Cr Geoff McDonald said the crowd was the biggest he'd ever seen.

Parade marshal Graham Rayner agreed with him and said the change of route this year had been a success.

The grand champion float was Woolworths' Cinderella-themed entry.

Children drew with chalk on the streets and excited residents cheered as the colours and noise of the floats passed them by.

Sienna Domic was among the many visitors from out of town at the parade having travelled from Bundaberg.

She said it was a fun atmosphere and found it hard to pick a favourite float.

In the end she settled on Grand Central Shopping Centre's safari-themed anniversary float which Ms Domic labelled "the Lion".

"I came last year with my cousins but this one is so much better," she said.

Isabell Muller travelled from Brisbane to watch the parade.

"I love the music and the colours of the parade," she said.

"I'll head down to Queens Park to go on a few of the rides after the parade."

Ms Muller was only in town for the weekend but said it was definitely worth making the trip to Toowoomba.

The parade was officially started by Grand Central manager Shaine Beveridge, Queensland Governor Paul de Jersey, Toowoomba region Mayor Paul Antonio and Ipswich West MP Jim Madden who was representing Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk.
