HUMBLE Australian actor Claire van der Boom has no plans to slow down.

She's been seen on Australian and American screens on shows including Underbelly and Hawaii Five-0.

Now van der Boom can be seen beside fellow Aussie Eamon Farren in Eponine Films' Love is Now.

The story follows the love story of the characters Audrey and Dean and their country adventure along the New South Wales Harvest Trail.

Van der Boom said she was "very excited" to work alongside Farren, who she attended drama school with.

"Romance is not often done in Australia so I was excited to give it a go," she said.

"I think the cinematography is stunning.

"The last day you finish filming you surrender a little bit.

"It's always a slight shock to the system to finally have the day where you come back and have to think back to what the experience was like."

While she enjoys stability she also loves the freedom of being able to be a part of different films, she said.

"I'm very grateful because I shot four films last year and three this year and this (Love is Now) is the first open this year," van der Boom said.

"I've been able to explore different characters and I'm grateful for that.

"But when you get a TV show you have stability and that can feel fantastic and it can be grounding and puts you at ease."

In the future she said behind the camera might be a place she'll find herself, especially creating documentaries.

"It's bizarre I love documentary, that's my kind of go to when I want to think," van der Boom said.

"I'd like to find important stories to tell."

Basing herself in the US, van der Boom said she prefers to live in the city that never sleeps.

"I live in New York and LA, but I spend more time in New York.

"Both are fabulous but I feel more inspired in New York, perhaps because it's not Hollywood and it's a healthier place to be."

For the future she tries to take a laidback approach.

"Life is going to take you one way or take you another," she said.

"I don't plan more than five weeks in advance.

"I'm just enjoying the ride."

Love is Now is screening in selected Hoyts cinemas now.
