Clark’s slam dunk goal taking off

WARWICK Wildcats coach Jeff Clark says he is making good progress in his quest to slam dunk before he reaches the age of 50.

Clark decided late last year he wanted to do a slam dunk.

After telling some kids off who were hanging on the rim at WIRAC, Clark received taunts from the children, who said he was only telling them off because he couldn't jump that high.

After thinking about it later on, Clark said he decided he was embarrassed and wanted to do something about his figure.

Now, almost two months into the challenge, Clark said he had shredded almost all of the weight he wanted to.

"I've lost 13kg and I'm down to 84kg," Clark said.

"I wanted to get down to the low 80s so I only want to drop another kilogram or two.

"Not having to lift that extra weight when I jump is going to make a big difference.

"I'll be getting into a weights program as well which should give me extra power when I jump."

While he still has three years to reach his goal, Clark said he hoped to achieve it much sooner.

"If I get no injuries I am aiming to do it in about two or three months' time," he said.

"I'm a bit nervous but it's a challenge.

"A few people have given me no hope but while I know it's not going to come easy, I'm hopeful I can do it."
