Clarrie Hall Dam alert lifted

CLARRIE Hall Dam is no longer on white alert with water levels falling as rain eased overnight.

The dam is now on protection alert, with water just 1m over the spillway.

On Wednesday, Tweed Shire Council and the SES issued the white alert, advising residents downstream to prepare to evacuate.

There is no longer an immediate threat.

A white alert is used during heavy rainfall when water rises 2m over the spillway.

The alert is upgraded to amber if the level continues to rise up to 3.5m over the spillway and then to red if the dam is going to breach when forced evacuation of the downstream population would begin.
