Classic rock song added to registry

CLASSIC Aussie rock song It's a Long Way to the Top will be added to the nation's film and sound archive registry of recorded sound.

The AC/DC song from back in 1975 was one of 10 songs to be added to the registry, which is essentially the official recorded history of the best in Australian music.

Other songs to be added include indigenous legend Jimmy Little's Royal Telephone, Barry Humphries and Dick Bentley's A Track Winding Back and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds' Tender Prey.

The National Registry of Recorded Sound is part of the National Film and Sound Archive of Australia's Sounds of Australia program to promote and celebrate the nation's sound heritage.
