Close call for man washed away

A MAN washed off a causeway at Limpinwood at about 4pm today was found about 30 minutes later safe on the bank of the creek.

Rescue units were travelling to the scene when the search was called off after the man was discovered.

Tweed District Rescue Squad president Jamie Stoddart said the unit was heading to the site.

"We got reports that a man was washed off the causeway on Limpinwood Rd," Mr Stoddard said.

"He was washed to the other side on the creek (Hopping Dicks Creek) where he was discovered."

Afternoon storms had dumped 19mm of rain at Limpinwood in only a few hours increasing creek flows in the area.
