Club hits the bullseye

THE Murwillumbah Rifle Club held its annual dinner and presentation night last Saturday night at Greenhills On Tweed, to end a very successful season.

Winners of the various monthly events and achievements in all divisions - smallbore, field class, shotgun and fullbore - held during the year were presented with trophies and awards.

The standard of competition proved to have been high, with very small margins, sometimes just a single point, separating the final top placings.

The fullbore club champion was Daniel Chittick, with David Phippard and Winston Shoobridge having the best two stages off-rifle scores of 100.15.

The other best off-rifle scores in other disciplines were F-class standard Doug Hawkins 119 and smallbore Alan Cronk with 398.

For the fourth year running, the club's top shotgun shooter was Craig Bartlett 98/100.

The B-grade champion was Stuart Waddell, while the C-grade went to Shaun Dolan.

The F-class standard championship went to Doug Hawkins.

The winner of the Dove Cup for the highest aggregate handicap score in aperture class went to Winston Shoobridge. The equivalent competition in F-class standard, the Scope Cup went to Wayne Sunderland.

Smallbore aggregate best scores were off-rifle Alan Cronk, and with handicap Steve Worthington.

The Eric and Bill Roberts Memorial Trophy, presented by Marion Roberts, went to Greg Davids, who won the best aggregate score on the Roberts Memorial Trophy Day shoot. Brian Barrett won the Fred Thomson Memorial Trophy.

Callum Bartlett received the Bill Dawes Encouragement Trophy.

Shaun Dolan had the best result at an open prize shoot. Greg Davids and Peter Loxley-Lewis were presented with their Red Rooster badges for a perfect club single stage score.
