Coalition pledges to fix Kennedy Dr despite loss

KENNEDY Dr will be resurfaced with $3.3 million in federal funding, the office of Queensland MP and soon to be deputy prime minister Warren Truss has confirmed.

Yesterday, the Member for Richmond Justine Elliot, called on the Coalition to honour an election committement to pay for the works to the Tweed Shire Council managed road.

Mr Truss visited the Tweed on Friday to campaign alongside the National's candidate Matthew Fraser.

During the campaign it was unclear whether the funding for Kennedy Dr was contingent on Mr Fraser's election to the seat of Richmond.

Mr Truss's office said there were no costings or timelines available at this stage but the new government's commitment was firm.
