Coast lifesaver for Model Ambassador at fashion festival
SHANNON Guthrie is a poster girl for everything that's good about the Sunshine Coast.
The 19-year-old blonde was born and bred on the Coast and has been a lifesaver since the age of six.
She still loves nothing more than hitting the beach or going on patrol as a member of the Alexandra Headland club.
Now she's taken her glowing "surfer girl" looks into a new dimension as the Model Ambassador for the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival.
Shannon has been a regular on the Sunshine Coast modelling scene for several years but describes winning the coveted festival role as a huge honour.
"Growing up on the Sunshine Coast and being involved in lifesaving is definitely something that has shaped who I am now and helped me with modelling and being comfortable in my own skin," she said.
"The Sunshine Coast is my home and I am very proud to be able to represent it.
"The festival is an event I feel truly connected with and passionate about as a Sunshine Coast local."
A regular with Tamblyn Models, Shannon has modelled for the Sunshine Coast Fashion Festival and International Fashion Week each year since 2012.
She won the coveted role of Model Ambassador ahead of a strong field of models from across Queensland.
After suddenly losing its home at Palmer Coolum Resort, the fashion festival will be held at Caloundra Events Centre on Saturday, October 17.
Shannon's role will include not only being the "face" of the event but also a mentor, role model and spokeswoman.
It's a challenge she says she is looking forward to.
"I hope to bring energy, enthusiasm and professionalism to my role, guiding the model team to present a truly magnificent show in 2015," she said.
A former student at St Thomas Moore, Noosaville, and St Andrew's Anglican College, Shannon is studying for a Bachelor of Communications at the University of the Sunshine Coast.
