Coas's got talent

ELANORA builders have teamed up with a Kingscliff architect to prove you don't need to travel to a metropolitan area to find talent in the building industry.

Adam and Kylie Cooke, of Millenium Building Services, have won a number of Housing Industry Association awards, including Queensland Townhouse/Villa Development of the Year as well as Custom Built Home of the Year $500,000-$750,000.

Architect Michael Schafer also took the cake on the same house for the Building Designers Association State Award.

“We are a winning combination, having an award-winning designer and builder whose attention to detail is extremely high,” Ms Cooke said.

Ms Cooke said she wanted to highlight how skilled the Gold Coast building industry was, and how important it was to support it.

“We've got fantastic builders and designers here on the coast and we need to keep them here,” she said.

“They know the insurance regulations, and the council regulations and the landscape so it just makes sense.”

Ms Cooke said she first heard of Mr Schafer through a client who valued his local knowledge.

“Michael just has an eye for design and client needs,” she said.

“He does a lot of high-end builds, but also deals with people who have smaller budgets. We both try to meet people's needs as much as possible.”

Millenium Building Services will be entering three homes in the next HIA awards.

Ms Cooke said after seven years on the coast, she was certain Millenium Building Services would continue to service the coast into the future.
