BEFORE being taken in by Tony Zocchi and his family, five-year-old poodle Coco Channel, named after the famous fashion icon Coco Chanel, was living a very different life in Brisbane.

Along with many other neglected dogs all owned by the one person, Coco was rescued by the RSPCA and was lucky enough to be picked up by Tony Zocchi.

"She has a wonderful nature and is definitely a member of our family." Mr Zoochi said.

With pink hair and matching boots, Coco is pretty hard to miss as she walks around Coolangatta getting pats from everyone crossing her path.

"It's hard walking her on the beach, ladies come up to me and ask for a pat and I say, please the dog first," Mr Zoochi remarks with a cheeky grin and a smile.

Rest assured Coco earns her keep in the Zocchi house, the family uses the big poodle for fundraisers and other charities, putting her good looks to use, raising money by having members of the public pay to have their picture taken with her.

About to strut onto the catwalk, My Daily News bumped into Mr Zocchi and Coco at the Cooly Rocks On Poodle Parade where all types and sizes of dogs were competing for prizes in categories including best dressed, best groomed, best trick and cutest dog.

Coco mingled with the other contestants, with a slight air of confidence in her pre-comp body language.

After strutting her stuff in several categories Coco took out the Best Groomed award to the delight of Mr Zocchi.
