Cody hopes to smash opponents

BANORA Point's Cody Atkinson hopes to give his competitors a swift backhand before smashing them off court in the Northern NSW Medibank Champion of Champions tennis tournament at Inverell on August 8.

Cody, who started playing tennis when he got a tennis racquet for his eighth birthday and had so much fun he began playing tournaments when he was just nine years old, will be fighting for his place in the NSW State Final in Gosford in November.

“I hope to go further every time I play,” he said.

The NSW Junior Development Series consisted of 82 tournaments, and an average of 100 competitors per event, across the state.

Cody and his North East team are set to play off against the North West region on the way hopefully to the Champion of Champions event. The top three place getters and one wildcard from each age group move on to the state finals.
