Coffs Harbour court bomb threat sparks evacuation

EMERGENCY crews have given the Coffs Harbour Court House precinct the all clear after a bomb scare.

Courtrooms were evacuated after a male caller made the threat at about 11.30am this morning.

More than 100 staff members, legal officers and members of the public were forced to stand outside when the complex was evacuated just before 12.00pm.

Police scoured the building and combed outside areas searching for anything suspicious.

The inspection turned out no apparent risk and people were free to return back inside at 12:30pm.

Coffs-Clarence Crime Manager Darren Jameson said police would trace and investigate the phone call.

The majority of the 147 court matters scheduled to be heard had already been dealt with for the day, but there was still a number of cases being finalised at the time of the threat.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
