Collette Dinnigan to close boutitiques

SHE has dressed the biggest names in Hollywood and her clothes have been a staple in the wardrobes of Australian fashion lovers for more than two decades but Collette Dinnigan has confirmed she is closing her boutiques.

Arguably one of the most influential designers in Australia's history, Dinnigan was best known for her luxury bridal and evening gowns, which have graced catwalks in Paris, London and Milan.

According to the Australian Financial Review, Dinnigan was keen to get work life balance back in her life and when she was unable to find a manager or backer to take on the retail side of her business, she was forced to close her boutiques in Australia and overseas.

Up to 50 staff will reportedly lose their jobs but Dinnigan told the AFR she had spent two years looking for an alternative and could not find someone with the "right mix" of experience.

Dinnigan's contracts with David Jones and Specsavers will continue.

She said she was grateful to have worked with some of the world's most talented people and looked forward to spending more time with her husband, nine-year-old daughter and baby boy.
