Colourful display of orchids return to Murwillumbah

THE Jessie McMillan Hall at Murwillumbah was a flurry of colour for the Tweed District Orchid Society's autumn show held recently.

"It has been many years since the society has held an autumn show in Murwillumbah and visitors saw a colourful display of many different orchids including both species and hybrids," society president, Bob Sullivan said

"Bill Brown won several champion categories including Grand Champion with Cycnoches cooperii, Reserve Champion with Dendrobium Fraser Canary 'Twister,' Champion Dendrobium with Oncidium Millennum Gold, Champion Species with Cycnoches Cooperii, Champion Miscellaneous with Cycnoches Swan Cascade, Champion Specimen ( Hybrid or Species) with Ornithophora radicans and Champion Australian Native, Species or Hybrid (excluding Dendrobium bigibbum) with Dendrobium Pearl Vera 'White Pointer".

The Tweed District Orchid Society meets at the Masonic Hall at 8 Boyd Street, Tweed Heads on the fourth Thursday of each month (except December).

Meetings commence at 7.30pm.
