Colts, junior clubs chase premierships

MURWILLUMBAH Colts have the opportunity to secure up to seven Group 18 Junior Rugby League (JRL) premierships, after all their under-10s to under-16s sides finished top five this season.

Some 57 teams from nine different clubs have been battling to finish top five in their age groups to qualify for the finals, and the Colts' under-12s, 14s and 15s sides all finished first, while their under-10s and 11s sides finished third.

South Tweed should also feature strongly during finals, with their under-11s and 16s both finishing top, heading into the finals.

Group 18's spokesperson Anna Bourne said now each ladder was set, finals would kick-off on August 20.

The elimination final will be held at Tweed Coast Raiders and the qualifying final will be at Mullumbimby,” Bourne said.

"Our minor semi-final is at Bilambil and the major final will be at South Tweed Heads. The preliminary final is at Tugun and then the Grand Final is at Tweed Heads Seagulls.”

Bourne said minor premiers in each age group would have this weekend off, with side two battling side three and four playing off against five in age-group finals this weekend.

All finals will have a cost of $3 entry per adult.

Under-10s: 1. Seagulls, 2. Stingers, 3. Colts, 4. Mullumbimby, 5. Hornets.

Under-11s: 1. South Tweed, 2. Hornets, 3. Colts, 4. Byron-Lennox, 5. Ospreys.

Under-12s: 1. Colts, 2. Bilambil, 3. Byron-Lennox, 4. Hornets, 5. Seagulls.

Under-13s: 1. Hornets, 2. South Tweed, 3. Seagulls, 4. Colts, 5. Byron-Lennox.

Under-14s: 1. Colts, 2. Hornets, 3. Bilambil, 4. South Tweed, 5. Tugun.

Under-15s: 1. Colts, 2. South Tweed, 3. Bilambil, 4. Seagulls, 5. Byron-Lennox.

Under-16s: 1.South Tweed, 2. Hornets, 3. Bilambil, 4. Colts, 5. Raiders.
