Confirmation escapee Zac Cree was man arrested last week

CORRECTIVE Services NSW has confirmed prison escapee Zac Cree was arrested on the Gold Coast last week.

On May 17, Queensland police arrested Cree, 25, following an alleged break and enter at Helensvale.

He was found hiding in the roof of a Pacific Pine house in Gould Place.

Today, a spokesman for Corrective Services NSW confirmed it was Cree who was arrested, after days of speculation.

It is unknown if the Banora Point man will be extradited back to NSW or if he will remain in Queensland corrective services until he appears in court on other charges.

Cree escaped along with Ashley Cullen, 21, from Toormina, and Reegan Freeburn 24, from Grafton, from their "secured" unit at the Glenn Innes jail on April 4.
