Conn jumps from Titans to Roosters

SYDNEY Roosters have announced the signing of Gold Coast Titan and Tweed Heads Seagull forward Daniel Conn to a two-year NRL contract starting in 2010.

Conn has endured a tough 2009 season at the Titans with a broken thumb injury keeping him out of the NRL side until two weeks ago. The 23-year-old, who debuted for the Bulldogs in 2005, is a strong signing for the Roosters as they prepare to lose key forwards Craig Fitzgibbon (Hull), Mark O'Meley (Hull) and Shane Shackleton (Parramatta) next year.

Conn played his junior football with recently re-signed Roosters forward Nate Myles, and recruitment manager Peter O'Sullivan believes the second rower will be a handy asset for the Roosters.

“Daniel is a player who can play on the edges as well as up the middle of the field,” O'Sullivan said. “He has had an injury plagued season but has forced his way back into the Titans top 17 since returning from a broken thumb.”
