Convicted killer Max Sica granted judge-only trial

A CONVICTED triple murderer has been granted a judge-only trial on child sex charges to protect him from potentially prejudiced jurors.

Max Sica was jailed for 45 years, with a 35-year non-parole period, after a long trial earlier this year.

He was found guilty of murdering three Singh siblings - Neelma, 24, Kunal, 18, and Sidhi, 12, - at their Brisbane home in 2003.

Judge Julie Dick granted Sica's judge-only trial application on Thursday, noting the earlier trial was one of the most "notorious" in Queensland in recent times.

Sica will face trial on 21 child sex related charges later this year.
