Coolangatta calls for blood

The Coolangatta community is doing its part to donate blood and save lives.

The Red Cross mobile blood bank is located outside the Coolangatta Surf Club during the first week of every month.

Targets in this area have reported to be either met or exceeded on most occasions.

Red Cross crew member Dennis Jones said the target of 50 donors per day is a reachable goal in the Coolangatta area.

"58 donors are booked in for today, we have already seen 25 through the door," Mr Jones said.

"Blood is the one thing we cannot manufacture. If we don't give, who will?"

Coolangatta resident Ryan Fulton is a regular donor who said he is happy to be a part of saving lives.

''I like helping people. I have blood spare so why not give it to someone who needs it," Mr Fulton said.

Mr Jones advised those wishing to donate to make an appointment by calling Red Cross on 13 14 95 or visiting donateblood.com.au.
